Beliefs
First United Church of Oak Park is an open community united in love and justice, and we welcome you to worship and serve with us. We are dually affiliated with the Presbyterian Church USA and the United Church of Christ, and we worship in a historic church building in downtown Oak Park.
Our ministries reach around the corner and around the globe. Our congregation is home to the Oak Park-River Forest Food Pantry, the Walk-in Ministry, Cluster Tutoring, First United Nursery School, and we host the PADS homeless ministry two nights per week.
We are a congregation that celebrates unity in diversity. Whoever you are, and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
Our mission is to:
Praise the God of Jesus Christ in worship, prayer and daily life.
Deepen our faith through study, dialogue and reflection.
Care for others in our faith community and in the world.
Express love, seeking to be a diverse and inclusive church.
Work for justice, peace and reconciliation among all people.
Tell our stories of faith to others.
Our wildly important goal is to create and maintain a framework that nourishes the spiritual welfare of the congregation. God is still speaking at First United Church!
